Super Superfoods: Hemp Seeds


These tiny seeds come from the high-growing varieties of the Cannabis plant, but don’t be alarmed, they don’t contain the active THC compound found in marijuana! They are rich in nutrients , they’re versatile & one of many great SUPERFOODS too.


  • Packed with protein that has a wide range of amino acids – aids feelings of satiety and provides the building blocks for muscles. Because they contain all the amino acids, they are a great source of protein for vegans and vegetarians.
  • Loaded with Magnesium which is linked to a positive effect on migraines, blood pressure, osteoporosis and PMS.
  • Rich in vitamins E (a natural antioxidant) and B (important for cellular metabolism), calcium, magnesium, iron(which helps fight fatigue & keep the immune system strong), and zinc.
  • Filled with fibre which has been linked to feelings of satiety and a healthy digestive system.

  • Using them at home? To keep them fresh, buy small quantities and store them in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Add them to seeds bars, nut bars or trail mixes.
  • Mix into cooked and cooled quinoa or couscous.
  • Add to juices or smoothies.
  • Use them to up the health factor on a treat. Try dipping apple slices into dark, raw chocolate and then into a mixture of calcium-containing almond nibbles, hemp seeds and chia seeds. Allow to cool in the fridge until the chocolate has set.
